State of the "Evans Family" Union Address I don't express myself that well with words, don't pretend to be a prize winning journalist. I do, however,
operate in a totally "black and white" world, unlike our current "leaders" in Washington or our State
legislators, who seem to drift around in a "shades of gray" world that only they occupy. I do remember history,
hell, I even look it up every once in a while. In my world, if I don't have any money, I don't spend it! I don't
run up my credit card, borrow from my enemies (the Chinese are not our friends, no matter what you may have been taught in
school), or have the option of printing more. If I screw something up, I accept and pay the consequences,
without shifting blame somewhere else or ignoring the problem all together. If someone offers a differing point
of view, I at least listen, and then offer MY TAKE on the situation. I don't promise one agenda, like allowing open
meetings on proposed Health Care Reform to be telecast on Live TV, then conduct business behind closed doors at midnight,
bullying/bribing spineless legislators by either giving or taking "BACON" away. I don't blame my teachers
or my school system (read as "previous" administration) for where I ended up in life, for the bills I have incurred.
The Republicans were not in control of the Congress that pushed thru "TARP', the Democrats had control of Congress
in 2007 and 2008, look it up. I don't go making up "new math" every few weeks, like accounting for jobs
"created". I don't live in Arizona's 13th District where 60 jobs were created, oh wait, no such
district. I don't count a job that is saved as a new job, it existed before you came along, therefor it is not NEW!
I don't claim that any of these new programs (Cash for Clunkers, Jobs programs, etc.) will raise my Federal taxes,
they may not. However, our State and Local taxes will skyrocket to pay for those programs abandoned by the
Feds and shifted elsewhere. If you don't think your OVERALL tax share will increase, then I have a bridge in San Francisco
and a great lot in Florida that might interest you! I do not think that, if you lose
other people's money that you should be bailed out (with my tax dollars), then give yourself a bonus for doing such a great
job. I did not lie on a mortgage application for the $400,000 house I thought I could afford (with no money down and
making 60 K a year salary), take out a 2nd Mortgage on the basis of the NEVER ENDING UPWARD VALUE of my house.
One of the smartest guys I ever knew once told me that "Your house is your home, treat it as such. An investment
is another piece of property that you gamble with when you can afford to do so. That man is my Dad, he was so right.
I did not buy a Lexus/BMW/Cadillac to keep up with my neighbors, that I could not afford, then bitch about it and declare
bankruptcy when times got tough. I don't think that if you are an admitted communist, if you have cheated
on your taxes, or not paid them, if your "mentors" are Che Guevara and Mao Tse Tung that you belong in our government.
Not saying you don't have the right to expound your view, after all, that right is afforded to you in The Bill of
Rights, I just don't want you making policy for us, the majority. I don't think terrorists should be afforded
rights not granted in the Geneva Conventions. If your stated policy is to remove our society and
ways from the face of the earth, then you have declared war on us. When you attack us on our soil you have declared
war. War has a limited set of rules, those do not include reading enemy combatants their Miranda Rights or providing
them with a Public Defender. I don't think that Politicians can fight a war, leave that to the Annapolis/West Point
graduates, those that are TRAINED to understand how best to proceed. I don't
think that you are a terrorist if you attend a Tea-Party, but that is what some were called by those chosen
to "represent" us in both our Congress and Senate. I don't think if you disagree with my point of view that
you belong on some sort of list, or should called names by certain "leaders". I don't rely on one news outlet
for my point of view, I am open to all, but certain news outlets have been threatened by our "leaders" for showing
a different point of view. I am neither Republican nor Democrat, I don't follow the party "Line" like a lot
of people. I believe in the Constitution, and am pretty sick and tired of those that try and suppress, circumvent or
just plain ignore the basic principles that have governed us from it's inception until January 2009. I don't have an
answer to all that ail's our great nation, I accept the fact that we all need to pull together, sacrifice and fight together
to correct our current path. I am just one voice, but as sure as I am breathing I believe that the majority of Americans, putting
religion, ethnicity or sexual persuasion aside, feel the same. As I stated in the beginning, I'm not that good
with words or writing, but I think if you slowly read the above you will understand what we are up against. We can correct
the problems we currently face, but need to read and understand history to keep from repeating it.
It starts in 2010, be sure and vote for whats best for our children and grandchildren, not just whats best
for us at this moment in time We have the privilage of living in the greatest country that has ever occupied our planet,
. Remember, when a society depends on others to support them, house them, feed them, think for them and make excuses
for them, that society is doomed to fail.
