Welcome to the Evans Family Racing Website and the home of Evans Racing, Las Vegas, NV.
We love living in Las Vegas, and we love racing at "America's Greatest Drag Strip". Our cast features three
generations of racers and a close knit group of family and friends
2010, change or just same-o same-o?
Well, 2009 is behind us, time to start a new
season! Lots of new stuff happening within our group for 2010, and more of the same also. Grandson Jake has a
new engine-clutch combination in his Junior, and is making the jump to the Lightning class. The car should run low 10's,
and Jake is focusing on "driving the stripe" this year, as he looks to repeat his Championship 2008 season.
Ian Mckenzie, who has been with us since 2000, is leaving his crew chief duties on my Challenger to race a nitrous equipped
motorcycle. Ian is a regular in the annual "Vegas to Reno" off road race, and spends time every now and then
in a Score Trophy Truck. Sam, of Sam's Cycle Supply in Las Vegas is providing and maintaining the bike, and Ian is really
looking forward to the start of his first full drag racing season. Ian plans on racing the full Wicked Horsepower ET
Series at LVMS and the PSCA events. Neil's Duster gave us fit's last year, breaking rear ends like you would not believe.
After re-working the entire rear suspension, and consulting with John Calvert at the last PSCA event of the year, the Duster
leaves hard and straight. Neil will see limited duty behind the wheel this year, as it is wife Polly's turn to race
this season. Polly will be behind the wheel of her Z4 motored Chevy Luv chasing points in Pro, while
Neil runs the local PSCA and Extreme Sportsman Series. Neil's father-in-law, Scott Horsley, has a new "power
adder" on his "Class of 55" Chevy. He kept this under wraps until a couple of weeks ago, can you say
"Blown"? Scott is semi retired, and plans on tuning for Jake and Polly while running a limited schedule also.
The 1969 Dart
Stock Eliminator I have been working on is just about ready for action. The engine parts are being machined at at HBR
(Heads by Rick) here in Las Vegas, and when that is done Paul Haszlauer and I will assemble the little 318. This
is Rick's first attempt at doing a NHRA "legal" stocker and he is looking forward to the task. If it runs
as good as our bracket motors we should have a blast with it. Paul is a long-time Mopar guy, sort of the Las Vegas guru
of Stock/Super Stock, and has been invaluable in helping us with our cars. Neil's younger brother, Randy, is going to
split driving duties with Dad, hoping to be behind the wheel for Phil Painters "Mopars at the Strip" in March.
As for the Challenger, it most likely will spend a lot of time in the garage this season. I am in Commercial wood framing
in Las Vegas, and we have been hammered severely by current economic conditions here in Las Vegas. As a result, I am
working part time, and I don't look for that to improve for a couple of years. On a good note, there is a lot less competition
in town now, as several large framing companies have left town or their owners have retired, leaving fewer of us chasing
what jobs there are. My plans now are to run about half of the Wicked Horsepower ET Series events, "Mopars
at the Strip" and hopefully a Divisional or two with the Dart. You can follow our year by visiting the "tabs"
on the left hand side of every page.
In the mean time, I will keep hoping for a better year in 2010 for all, and for our country to return to the path it followed
for the first 200 years of it's life. Remember, if "Hope and Change" just isn't working for you, try and start
the correction in 2010, and finish it in 2012. See you at the track, take care and most of all, visit your local race
track often.
